Overview
The Professional Exchange is a non-competitive, education-focused experience offered alongside the Utah Massage Championship. This exchange is designed exclusively for all licensed massage therapists and provides a collaborative environment for hands-on learning, technique exploration, and professional development.
Participation in the Professional Exchange allows licensed therapists to engage in educational opportunities and event activities without competing in the championship.
Eligibility
Open to currently licensed massage therapists in every state
Participants must be in good standing with licensing requirements
Proof of active professional liability insurance is required
Proof of licensure
Not open to students or the general public
Licensed therapists registered for the Professional Exchange may:
- Attend approved CEU classes offered during the event
- Participate in live demonstrations and educational sessions
- Engage in therapist-to-therapist massage exchanges
- Access event activities, vendor areas, and professional networking opportunities
- Observe championship events
Participation in these activities does not require entry into any competitive division.
Format
Therapist-to-therapist massage only
No public or client massage sessions
Participants may both give and receive massage
Sessions may include:
- Technique demonstrations
- Guided hands-on practice
- Instructor-led or peer-led exchanges
- Educational discussion and Q&A
- Non-Competitive Structure
The Professional Exchange is not judged
There are no scores, rankings, placements, or awards
Techniques are not evaluated according to championship criteria
Participants are encouraged to explore modalities freely in a learning-focused environment
Relationship to the Utah Massage Championship
The Professional Exchange takes place alongside, but separately from, all competitive divisions
Participation does not constitute entry into the Utah Massage Championship
Championship competitors may participate in the Professional Exchange when not actively competing, subject to scheduling and space availability
Professional & Ethical Standards
All participants are expected to uphold Utah massage therapy standards of practice, including:
- Clear communication and informed consent
- Proper draping and peer comfort
- Respectful, professional conduct at all times
- Adherence to ethical boundaries appropriate for an educational setting
- Solicitation, sales activity, or recruitment is not permitted within the exchange space.
Educational Focus
The Professional Exchange emphasizes:
- Technique refinement and professional skill development
- Clinical insight and therapeutic reasoning
- Therapist body mechanics and career sustainability
- Peer collaboration and shared learning
Continuing education credits may be available for select classes and sessions, as designated in advance.
Attire & Equipment
Professional attire is required
Massage therapists participating in the exchange will provide their own tables, linens, and supplies
Additional logistical details will be shared with registered participants
Participant Acknowledgment
By registering for the Professional Exchange, participants acknowledge that:
- This is a non-competitive educational experience
- No judging, scoring, or awards are associated with participation
- Compliance with licensure and insurance requirements is mandatory
- Engagement is voluntary and collaborative
